Internet Explorer 8

  • We recommend waiting to update to Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).
  • We are currently investigating issues related to IE8 in iBuyNU, the portion of FAMIS used by central FM and, possibly, NUFinancials (Vista users only).
  • Until our vendors certify this release and agree to support it, users may experience issues when using IE8. We will work with our vendors to determine the strategy and timing for their support of Café applications in IE8.
  • According to Microsoft's IEBlog, "IE8 will not automatically install on machines. Users must opt-in to install IE8."
  • Those who choose to update to IE8 can still use Firefox to access iBuyNU and other applications.
  • In making this recommendation the Café team is following University guidelines, as noted in NUIT's Spring eCommunicator (last item).
  • Once we have been advised of changes to the University's recommendation and/or our vendors' certification, we'll update our Supported Browsers page.
